SAFARI WEEK

Safari Week

Get ready for an overland journey at Camp Doodles Safari Week! Camp Founder David Hughes was born in Nairobi, Kenya so he knows what a real safari is all about.

Welcome children into the wilds of the jungle! A “Safari” in the park or around the neighborhood might be planned this week. Everyone could learn a little about jungle animals and how they live. Games and competitions can be held between the “cannibals” and the “hunters”. And a native feast might be held after the special event. Crafts could include making native huts, witch doctor masks or any kind of animal masks...

You might need a bush jacket for our animal hunt or dress-up day; get ready, it's time to unleash your inner animal!

MONDAY:
Techno Ball:
2nd - 6th graders have the opportunity to learn and play the Camp Doodles "underground game", Techno Ball. Our multi-purpose room is decked out with a DJ light system and...we can't tell you more!

Chess Championships::
If you are a chess player, today is your day to shine. We will have the opportunity to play and learn the art of chess.

Capture The Flag
Need we say more!? Our big grassy field is calling…what’s your strategy going to be?

TUESDAY:
Dress Up Day: SAFARI
Dress as an African animal, as if you're going on Safari, as a tourist, etc.

Ice Cream Day (~1:30pm - 3:45pm)

Who can resist a delicious ice cream in the middle of the summer - we sure won't! Tuesday afternoon marks our hike to a local Ice Cream Store where we will tempt our taste buds with delectable ice cream flavors.

We leave in small groups after lunch, so please give yourself extra time if you need to pick your child up between 1:30 and 3:45, when all groups will be back on site for our daily slideshow.

If you need to pick your child up early, we are happy to *try* to get them back for you.

BINGO for Prizes
:
No signing "Bingo was his name-o" - pull out the prize drawers, grab a bingo card and lets get ready for some fun!

WEDNESDAY:

FIELD TRIP: (4th-6th Grades). Click here for details.

Karaoke Party:
It doesn’t matter if you sound like Hannah Montana or not, because Karaoke is a time for people to come together and have fun singing the songs they know. If you have a song you particularly like, feel free to bring a copy of the CD to camp in case we don’t have that particular one (just remember to take it at the end of the day). Our karaoke machine is hooked up to a screen so you can read the words as you sign along. Very cool! Very fun!

Bike or RAZOR Scooter DAY (always optional)
Any camper who has a bike or scooter (aka "razor") is welcome to bring it in for an afternoon of biking/skooting around at camp. Remember, if you bring a bike/scooter you MUST remember to bring a helmet. You may want to label your belongings. Sometimes older campers get to ride off campus (only if they have a bike). When you come onto campus, please walk your bike/scooter.

ROARING / ANIMAL SOUND DEMONSTRATION:

Practice your roar or any other African animal sound and be prepared to share it. ROARRRRRRR!!

THURSDAY:

ANIMAL HUNT:

Like on any safari, one has to really keep on the lookout for the subtle movements and hiding places of animals. Similar to a treasure hunt, we're going to head off on safari and find those animals. Go with your group and see how many animals you can find and then come back and share with the other campers...perhaps over some African tea.

Wacky Water Day: (Marin only)
APPROXIMATE TIME: 1:30pm - 3:00
LOCATION: On Campus
Wacky Water Day is finally here! Water Day is a day to look forward to! Water Days are filled with fun activities ranging from massive water slides to water balloon tosses and games like "splish splish splash" to just running around and being silly in the sprinkler.
Alternate activities will be available for children who do not want to participate or if Mother Nature did not receive our memo regarding water day. However, we recommend that all children bring the items listed below as the fun is often contagious!
TO BRING: A swimsuit (under clothes is preferable), towel and wear sunscreen.

FRIDAY:
FIELD TRIP: 2nd-6th Grade. Click here for details.

CIT / StAFF LIPSYNC

New to Summer 2010, the Counselors-In-Training and Junior Counselors (and perhaps some paid staff) will perform a lipsync during morning assembly...a great way to start the day.

AWARDS CEREMONY:
Every Friday afternoon, just before checkout is our Awards Ceremony. Our staff give out numerous awards to their campers ranging from "Good Listener" to "Great Camp Attitude" and "Sunscreen Award" to "Spirit Award". This is an event that the campers won't want to miss!ivitiancisco Bay Area Golden Gate Bride Marina San Anselmo Cow Hollow Russian Hill Tam Valley Homestead Valley Ross
