** THE SIXTH ANNUAL "CRAZY CAMP OUT" AT STRAWBERRY POINT SCHOOL **

Wipe the dust off your sleeping bag and mosey on down to Strawberry Point School to help us prepare for our second annual camp-out.  While you're searching through the garage for your tent, we will be busy setting up our projectors to display a massive X-Box tournament (or two) and a fun video...all on HUGE screens!  Parents, while you barely missed the age cutoff for our overnight, you may enjoy the alternative option of going out to dinner, the theatre or just relaxing at home. 

While you try to find some clean pajamas, we will be ordering the pizza's and then lighting the fire so David can test smores (our quality control department requires that some unlucky staff member has to try at least three Smores).

When you first arrive at around six (extended-care campers will automatically join), we will have plenty to do.  You could check out our fun craft projects, build a Lego/block castle, play board games, throw the football around, play some air-hockey, help us decorate for next weeks theme or perhaps you would like to help David test the Smores.

Once it gets dark, we will activate a bunch of light-sticks to create the boundaries for "Flash Light Tag" right before we turn on a quiet movie on in one of our rooms and leave the noisier X-boxes on in another room as we slowly begin to wind down in preparation for bed-time.

LOGISTICAL INFORMATION:

Dates: No Camp Out in 2009.
Starting Time: Friday at 6:00pm.
Ending Time: Saturday between 8:30am and 8:45am. Late pick-ups will be charged $2.00 per minute (we'll be very tired!!)
Who Can Come?: Any camper, entering 2nd-6th grade. Other children may join, but we ask that they meet with one of our lead staff members first.
Cost: $40 for one child.  $20 for additional children in the same family.

Required Supplies:
- Sleeping Bag & Floor Mat
- Pajamas
- Warm, cozy sweatshirt & long pants
- Contact form (can be completed that night, at camp) with your evening location, special notes, etc.

Recommended Supplies:
- Change of clothes
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Tent (please help your child set it up in the auditorium and bring a floor mat as the ground can be rough)
- If you wear contacts, we recommend bringing glasses, in a protective case) 
- Teddy bear or favorite blanket...something comforting. Veronica will bring her blankie.
- Flashlight (with your name clearly written on it)

What To Leave At Home:
- Swiss Army Knives, matches/lighters, etc.)
- Cell phones, pagers, GPS devices, laptops, Blackberry, etc.
- Scary stories..

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Can I pick my child up on Friday night?
We ask that all campers spend the night. We have been strongly advised by a number of other camp professionals (who do overnights) that home sickness can spread like wildfire if any campers are seen leaving.

What if my child becomes homesick?
We will first attempt to either comfort your child or re-direct their energy to a fun activity.  If this is not successful, we will contact you for pickup, which will be done very "quietly" (you will be asked to park across the street while we will discretely walk your child over).

Where will my child sleep? 
Children will sleep on mats inside of the auditorium or classroom.  A team of staff members will patrol the indoor and outdoor locations throughout the night to make sure all is safe and quiet.

What's for dinner?  for breakfast?
While you are off delicately tasting the specialties in a fancy French restaurant with your significant other, we will be chowing down on pizza or burgers, followed by smores.  The following morning, we will pull out our finest plastic bowls to fill with delectable cereals...we're known to make pancakes, eggs and bacon too.

What time is "bed-time"?
We always try to have bed-time will be around 9:15pm for the younger campers (2nd - 3rd) and a fairly flexible 10ish for the older campers (4th - 6th). Of course, any child that tires out beforehand will have a safe, quiet place to sleep and sometimes bed-time gets later than planned (you know how it is having a sleep-over!)

Bathrooms, Showers, Etc:
Part of the fun of camping out is smelling like a skunk the next morning!  Well, maybe not that bad.  Toilets and sinks are available for our campers. Showers, baths & spas are not.
