DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, counselors are expected to provide leadership and supervision for children ages 4-12.   Daily responsibilities include leading children in fun activities and ensuring a fun, safe and caring environment.  Counselors are expected to participate in daily recreational activities, arts & crafts projects and other daily camp activities.       

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for candidates who have skills in one or more of the following areas: arts & crafts, sports, playground games, off-campus trips, drama, swimming, songs/music, science, nature or anyone who wants to have fun and is willing to learn! 

 

Counselors should be at least 16 years of age, and although previous experience is preferred, we will consider anyone who is caring, enthusiastic and wants to make a difference!   We expect our counselors to be enthusiastic, motivated and to be able to work in both an upbeat team environment as well as under minimum supervision.  CPR and First Aid certification may be required by camp's opening day. All employees must be willing to be finger printed and undergo a thorough background investigation. All staff must be able to climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds.  Lastly, we are seeking candidates who will be able to relate to adults and children with respect, patience and compassion and enforce boundaries and limits.

 

COMPENSATION:
Compensation is based on education and experience with a starting salary between $6.75 and $15 per hour. Compensation may include free hot lunch, 3-4 days of fun leadership training / orientation where we learn/share games, songs, appropriate and effective discipline techniques and get an idea of what camp is about...and we make great friends with the staff.

 

HUMAN RESOURCES: NEW HIRES (ACA P149):

• All paid and volunteer staff must complete a Voluntary Disclosure Statement

• All paid and volunteer staff will be checked on the National Sex Offender Registry Website

• All staff 18+ years old will have a criminal background check completed, most likely through a DOJ/FBI “LiveScan” fingerprint.

• All staff must have a minimum of 2 references and verified work experience

• All paid staff must complete an interview with the Camp Director or his/her designee.
